“National Space Research Program” is accepted together with the 10 years Action Plan on the 11th Science and Technology High Commission meeting on 10 March 2005 by the decision numbered 2005/9 and taken effect after being issued in the Prime Ministry Circular. Significant work has been done in Turkey, within the past 10 years on space technologies and together with national industry, TÜBİTAK Space Institute has developed BİLSAT, RAST and GÖKTÜRK - 2 satellites and placed them into orbit.
With every satellite developed in this course, infrastructure and accumulation of knowledge in the field of small satellite design and production have been acquired and many critical systems and sub systems used in space technology have been nationalized. In this meeting, in which the roles of TÜBİTAK MRC Materials and Energy Institutes in the nationalization of these sub systems were evaluated, it was decided that satellite works will be in coordination.
