As a part of a Contract for the Supply of Sonar Units for the Half-life Modernization of Barbaros-Class Frigates in Turkish Naval Forces, the first part of the Sonar Test Unit was delivered.
TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute Underwater Acoustic Laboratory (SAL), being the first and only accredited infrastructure in Turkey in the field of underwater acoustics, keeps spending effort in projects for meeting the needs of Turkish Naval Forces. Within the scope of the Barbaros-Class Frigates Half-life Modernization Program, TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute Underwater Acoustic Laboratory and ASELSAN Inc. keep working on the project for the “Development of Sonar Test System and Sonar Units” and, in this regard, the manufacture, test-characterization and admission processes of the 120-degree sector of the Sonar Test Unit were completed and the delivery to ASELSAN Inc. was realized on 11 October 2019.
