GLASS TECHNOLOGIES LABORATORY
In the Glass Technologies Laboratory; research, development and technology demonstration prototype production studies of glass and glass ceramics which are optical component of systems used in military and civil strategic fields such as aviation, transportation, medicine, lighting, electronics, sensor, semiconductor, space and display technologies are being conducted for development of functional and innovative materials. Within this scope;
- Development of glass and glass ceramic compositions with different physical properties,
- Determination of critical temperatures such as strain, annealing, softening, working and melting of glasses with high temperature viscometer system,
- Optimization of glass melting and annealing conditions,
- Determination of controlled crystallization heat treatment conditions of glass ceramics,
- Modification of glass surface by ion exchange,
- Determination and optimization of production conditions of borosilicate, alkali alumina silicate, alumina borosilicate based thin glasses under 2 mm thickness,
- Chemical tempering of thin glasses under 2 mm thickness
prototype development projects are being studied.
