The Sol-gel Functional Coating Technologies Project Group works in the area of sol-gel coatings, and has conducted several projects funded by the big and small scale private industries of Turkey, State Planning Organisation and TUBITAK by bilateral international projects.
In recent years, there is a big demand from the industry for the production and consumption of cheap, light and functional materials with high chemical, physical and mechanical performances. But in many cases, the material itself cannot meet the desired properties. In such cases, a coating or a system of thin films can be applied to the surface to vary or to extend the properties for the desired purposes. The project group provides technical solutions to surface problems and develops coatings for functional applications via sol-gel.
The project group, works on the formulation and development of functional coatings and the application thereof on the production line, nano sized powders, gels and the production of ceramic membranes, also carries out special tests, measurements and evaluations for various types of coatings for industry and research purposes, realizes accelerated corrosion tests and provides technical consultancy services to the industry.
